Brenda Mealor

Owner & Lead Dance Instructor

Brenda F. Mealor, the owner of The Dancers Studio, has been serving the West Cobb area for the last 50 years. Brenda is pleased to bring her expertise and love of dance to the Kennesaw Parks and Rec program. Her teaching career began at her childhood studio in Columbus, GA. Upon marrying and moving to Cobb County in 1975, she joined Becky Jones School of Dance in Smryna, GA as assistant director for 12 years. Mrs. Brenda opened The Dancers Studio in Kennesaw next and is still bringing her love of dance to her students. She was privileged to have studied under some of the well known dance personalities, nationally and locally, that have made dance what it is today. Ruth Mitchell, Iris Hensley, Lynn Curtis, Gus Giordano, Frank Hatchet, Art Stone, and Jo Rowan just to name a few.

Layla Bodrogi

Company Director

Layla Bodrogi is entering her 8th year as an instructor at the Dancers Studio and 2nd year as the Performance Company Director. Layla's training includes 16 years at The Dancers Studio, a company member under CiCi Kelly, and part of the Apprentice Company under Rachel Truit. She has also worked professionally dancing for Spike Lee, Nick Cannon, Nick Hagelin, Ansley Williams, and Sonni Mackenzi. She is very proud to have been the winner of the "Heart of Gold" award during her time competing, as part of The Dancers Studio Performance Company. This award gave her the opportunity to represent iDance4aCURE. Layla strives to instill empathy, responsibility, and passion into all of her dancers, while having fun learning! Layla is a raising senior at Kennesaw State University.

Laura Franco

Dance Instructor

Laura is a Cobb County native, and grew up dancing at The Dancers Studio from age 6-18. She was honored to be a member of the inaugural performance company at the studio, and in 2003, she was named the top soloist at Star Systems Talent Competition. Laura graduated from the University of Georgia in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, and performed with the Redcoat Band Flagline throughout her career across the Southeast and even in China!

 

Laura student-taught at The Dancers Studio for the 2002-2003 season, and then was on staff after college, at Becky Jones School of Dance. Laura returned to her home studio in 2014 and will be celebrating her 11th dance season this year as part of the Dancers Studio faculty. Laura is pleased to now have her daughter enjoying dance, as a member of the Performance Company.

Sherry Reed

Dance Instructor

Sherry, a former company member with The Dancers Studio, is currently a sophomore Kennesaw State University and is majoring in Exercise Science. Sherry teaches several of our 10 week session classes and recital classes. Sherry has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and pointe. Sherry is entering her 2nd year with The Dancers Studio and is also a manager for Public Storage.

Katelyn Batiste

Dance Instructor

Katelyn Batiste, hailing from southern Louisiana, started her journey in dance at age 3, training at the prestigious Gerami Academy of Fine Arts in Lafayette, Louisiana. She quickly become a natural on stage. In 2012, her family re-located to Metro Atlanta, where she discovered her new dance home, The Dancers Studio, at age 8. Over the next decade, Katelyn honed her craft under the tutelage and mentorship of the studio founder Brenda Mealor. Katelyn quickly became a formidable talent and vital part of The Dancers Studio performance Company. Currently, Katelyn is advancing her training, as a company member, at  Creative Rental Space in Atlanta. The Dancers Studio is pleased to be welcoming Katelyn home, as our new Hip-Hop instructor.
